Who We Are

Stellar Dance Studio is a dance studio in Central Ocala in Marion County. We are committed to giving you and your family a positive and professional dance experience. Stellar the first dance studio in Ocala to be open on Saturdays! We know everyone's schedules are drastically different and can be hard make it during the weekdays, so we wanted to break the barrier and be open for classes on Saturday mornings.


Stellar is a dance studio where dancers of all ages and abilities learn to dance and perform. We offer high-end dance education for aspiring dancers. Stellar Dance Studio specializes in jazz, acrobatics, and hip-hop, we pride our dancers being well versed in other genres too. We want you to shine like a star, whether your child is a serious dancer or just beginning. Your dancer will experience a solid technical foundation. Stellar Dance Studio is a positive environment where all students feel empowered, comfortable, and free to express themselves.


We’re not just teaching steps; we give our students life lessons, tools, and prominent memories that will last a lifetime. Dance is an excellent way to develop life-long friendships and instill the enjoyment of physical activity while encouraging individual artistic growth.

Styles of Dance

AcroDance (Acrobatics) is a classic fusion of dance and acrobatic technique, which showcases their strength, flexibility, balancing, limbering & tumbling skills.


Aerial Arts is an art form that requires one to perform moves and techniques on suspended hula hoops or pieces of silk fabric.


Ballet is a classical dance form demanding grace and precision and employing formalized steps and gestures set in intricate, flowing patterns to create expression through movement.


Clogging kind of dance in which the dancer accentuates the rhythm of his feet by wearing wooden-soled shoes, 


Flexibility and Mobility: Flexibility is the degree to which a muscle or group of muscles can passively lengthen. Mobility is the degree to which a joint can move through its range of motion without outside influence or momentum.


Hip-Hop dance consists of various styles such as but not limited to Funk, Breaking, Popping, and Locking.


Jazz consists of isolations of the head, shoulders, and hips, timing/musicality, shapes, and movements, including body rolls, jazz walks, swings, and kicks.


Lyrical dance is when dancers interpret a song and tell a story.


Street Jazz consists of two styles of dance jazz technique with hip hop influences or hip-hop technique with jazz influences.


Strength conditioning for dance improves your technique and performance in all dance forms by toning and sculpting your muscles for dance movements.


Tap is a dance performed wearing shoes fitted with metal taps, characterized by rhythmical tapping of the toes and heels.

Faculty & Staff

Sarah Jolee LaRocque

Owner, Director and CEO

Ms. Sarah, the owner and director of Stellar Dance Studio, LLC, started her dance journey at age three with hula dancing in Hawaii, later transitioning to ballet and tap in Alabama. She has extensive training in various dance styles, including jazz, hip hop, acrobatic arts, tap, ballet, lyrical, and aerial circus arts. Ms. Sarah has a diverse background in the dance studio realm, having served as an Assistant Director, Office Manager, dance instructor, and office staff.

Certified in multiple Acrobatics Arts and Aerial Arts programs, she expanded her expertise in 2022 by becoming a certified teacher at Arthur Murray Ocala, focusing on ballroom genres. Ms. Sarah is a seasoned regional judge for Inspire NDC, holds certifications in CPR, BLS, and mUvmethod, showcasing her commitment to safety and excellence. Actively engaged in the dance community, she attends conventions, teacher classes, training events, and seminars.

With nine years of teaching experience, Ms. Sarah founded Stellar Dance Studio in Ocala, driven by her passion for offering high-end training to dancers. Her studio promotes empowerment, comfort, and self-expression. A proud member of the Dance Studio Owner's Association (DSOA) since 2017, Ms. Sarah joined the Inner Circle in 2023 to stay current with industry trends and successful paths.

Believing in continuous growth, she encourages ongoing training for success. Outside the dance realm, Ms. Sarah enjoys quality time with her wife and two fur babies, engaging in activities like baking, workouts, card and board games, and traveling. 

Her motto, "Always remember to shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you'll land amongst the stars!!" reflects her inspirational spirit.

Alyse Putnam

Administrative Assistant, Enrollment Coordinator and Dance Insturctor

Ms. Alyse is a seasoned dance enthusiast with 30 years of dance training and 20 years of Office Administration experience. Starting as a young girl, she embraced dance and began assistant teaching at 14. A former member of the Sacred Heart University Dance Team, Ms. Alyse continued her passion for dance throughout college. She transitioned into a successful career in Office Administration, working for Verizon Wireless and Yale University. Alongside, she taught at Gloria Jean's Studio of Dance, guiding students to regional and national titles at competitions. In 2014, she expanded her role, balancing teaching and becoming the Office Administrator, emphasizing the importance of a comfortable dance environment. 

In her leisure, Ms. Alyse enjoys crocheting, kayaking, and quality time with her husband and two cats. 

Notably, she was part of the World Champion United States Tap Team in 2002, competing in Reisa, Germany.

Mireya Segovia

Dance Instructor and Artistic Design Coordinator

Ms. Mireya, a seasoned dancer from Ocala, FL, embarked on her dance journey at age 4, dedicating 15 years to mastering diverse genres such as Clogging, Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Lyrical, Contemporary, Acrobatics, and Hip-Hop. Initiating her competitive dance path at 11, she gleaned inspiration from dancers nationwide, participating in conventions and collaborating with esteemed choreographers.

Over the past four years, Ms. Mireya has shared her expertise in studios and gyms, teaching and assisting classes of various ages and levels. Committed to continuous growth, she is currently pursuing a dance major at Santa Fe Community College.

Beyond the dance floor, Ms. Mireya explores her passions for astrology and cherishes parenting her two feline companions.

Varvara Radimushkina

Ballet Instructor and Seamstress

Ms. Varvara brings over 25 years of classical ballet experience to her artistic journey. Beginning with a childhood passion for ballet and pointe shoes, she enrolled at the Ballet and Theater School of Obninsk, Russia, studying Vaganova technique, Russian folkloric dance, and contemporary and world dance for 12 years. During this time, she participated in national dance competitions and performed in various ballet productions with The Obninsk Ballet Theater Company.


Continuing her pursuit of excellence, Ms. Varvara expanded her education during a foreign exchange year in Finland, studying dance, Flamenco, ballet technique, and jazz at The Ballet School of Yvaskula. She later moved to Europe in 2000, dancing with The Cenacolo Arabesque Ballet School in Italy and joining The FVG New Space Ballet Company in 2001, where she learned the Balanchine dance style.


Throughout her career, Ms. Varvara collaborated with various studios, participating in numerous ballets and conventions. Believing in continuous education, she emphasizes the importance of practice and perfection.


Ms. Varvara's teaching philosophy centers around the joy of watching students fall in love with dance and conquer challenging steps. She aims to ensure her students have as much fun as she does while dancing. As she eloquently puts it, "If to dance is to dream, then you make dreams come true." - Anonymous.

Katie Chappell

Dance Instructor and ELITE CREW Lead

Ms. Katie boasts a 19-year dance journey, with 8 years dedicated to competitive dancing, showcasing strong technical skills. She earned a scholarship to the prestigious Joffrey Ballet School in New York City. Graduating from the University of Florida in 2022 with a degree in Nutritional Sciences and a minor in Dance, Ms. Katie delved into jazz, modern, contemporary, dance in medicine, and African dance.

During college, she served as the Treasurer and dance instructor for the Danza Dance Company, combining her passion for dance and finance. Ms. Katie's diverse interests led her to work in the nutrition department for the University of Florida Football Team. In her leisure, she enjoys reading, learning, lake/beach outings, and quality time with friends.

Kylie MacLean

Dance Instructor, Costume Design Assistant and Future Admin!

Ms. Kylie, a dance instructor apprentice under Sarah LaRocque, is a student and cheerleader at Forest High School. With a dance journey since age 2, she competed in various genres for 7 years. Inspired by her dance teachers, Ms. Kylie has a passion for teaching children, serving as a dance assistant for 3 years. Eager to learn, she looks forward to further growth. 

Outside dance, she cheers for FHS and enjoys quality time with family and friends. Ms. Kylie is Stellar Dance Studio's Saturday morning dance instructor for classes ages 2 and above.

Abbie Ingram

Dance Instructor, NPO Coordinator and Social Media Marketing Coordinator

Ms. Abbie has been dancing since she was 3 years old, giving her 18 years of experience in the dance industry. She started competing at 10 and spent 9 exciting years in competitions, she even danced in a Disney parade and at sea with Carnival cruise lines! Ms. Abbie has a true passion for teaching, with clogging being her favorite style to teach, while she loves to take jazz classes herself. Her talent has earned her numerous performance and special awards, including top overall placements and two prestigious "Dancer of the Year" titles at different studios. 

As the coordinator for our Non-Profit Organization , Stellar Dance Stars Inc, and our social media marketing coordinator, Ms. Abbie brings her vibrant energy and dedication to everything she does. 

When she's not teaching dance, Ms. Abbie is focused on her nursing studies and gaining hands-on experience as a Nurse Intern in the ED, with dreams of becoming a CRNA. She loves to travel, shop, spend time with her dogs, hitting the gym and anything in the color pink. Ms. Abbie's enthusiasm and commitment make her an invaluable part of our team!

Amanda Canterberry

Virtual Administrative Assistant

Owner and CEO at The Virtually Perfect Touch

Ms. Amanda has a passion for efficiency and a knack for organization, she has dedicated herself self to supporting businesses and entrepreneurs like Sarah LaRocque. Her mission is to take the load off the CEO's shoulders so they can focus on their zone of genius while she handles the rest.

Armed with 21 years of experience, she brings a diverse set of skills to the table. Whether it's managing emails, phone calls, scheduling trials, or handling customer inquiries, or processing your payroll, she's our go-to solution for all things administrative and beyond.

She takes pride in being a seamless extension of our team, working remotely but always within reach. We trust her to deliver exceptional results with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to meeting deadlines.

Beyond the professional side, she is a wife to a veteran and first responder and also a proud mother to twin sons who are 19.
